Botanical Gardens & Wood carving Factory, Kandy : Sri Lanka : Episode 5

This is Day 3 of the Sri Lanka Trip. In the second half of the day, we continued our sight seeing, and we reached The Royal Botanical Gardens in Peradeniya, Kandy. Which is one of the most famous botanical gardens in Sri Lanka and a major tourist attraction. The gardens are located about 5.5 kilometers west of the city of Kandy in the Central Province of Sri Lanka, near the Mahaweli River. They were formally established in 1843, though their history dates back to 1371 when King Wickramabahu III kept a court at Peradeniya. During the British colonial period, the gardens were expanded and developed, with many plants being introduced from around the world. It covers a land of 147 acres and is a n important center for botanical research and plant conservation in Sri Lanka. They have over 4,000 species of plants, including orchids, spices, medicinal plants, and palm trees. Buddha Tooth Relic Temple : Sri Lanka : Episode 4

  It was the 3rd day of our Sri Lanka trip. We went for the Kandy City Ride. We visited Tooth Relic Temple where Buddha's tooth is kept in concealed 7 layers of boxes. It was a wonderful experience of the art, music, and people. Then we visited a Gem Museum, where we learned about the mining, extraction, and cutting of gems, we got the opportunity to see several types of gems and saw excellent jewelry. From there we visited a Herbal Garden, where we saw some, common familiar and some strange and new trees, plants, herbs, and medicinal plants.        Watch our video on YouTube:  #GhoomneChalo

Sigiriya : Sri Lanka : Episode 3

We were on an 11-day and 10-night trip. It was our 2nd day in Sri Lanka. We are here with an interesting episode that covers the very famous Sigirya Rock also known as Sigiriya Fort or Sigiriya Fortress or Lion's Fort and Ravana's Palace or Soney ki Lanka etc. This is located in a huge 1.5-hectare land and stands 180 meters high. In the epic Ramayana, it is referred as Trikuta Parvat, where the Deamon King Ravana used to live. He made his city from gold. In Sri Lanka, it is also known as King Kashyapa's built this city and made it his capital. Minneriaya Village Tour and Minneriya Jungle Safari : Sri Lanka : Episode 2

We were on an 11-day and 10-night trip. It was our 2nd day in Sri Lanka. We had a nice breakfast and went to the Minneriya Village Tour. That was one of the best things that we did in Sri Lanka. It had a full package of bullock-cart riding, boating, Sri Lankan village houses and tasted traditional food. After this, we went for a 2.5-hour Minneriya Elephant Jungle Safari. Earlier no elephants were seen and when they started appearing, we were elated. And then a herd of elephants blocked our path and did not allow us to proceed for 15 minutes. We were so tense. The ticket prices for the Village tour and Jungle Safari are $80 per person. From here we went to Sigiriya Rock / Ravan ki Lanka that is covered in Episode 3. While returning to the hotel we visited the Buddha Golden Temple also known as Cave Temple. The ticket price for the Buddha temple is $5 per person. Watch the video on YouTube:  #GhoomneChalo
